GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman indoor track and field teams will compete at the 2011 Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 26-27) at the Indoor Track Complex on the campus of Clemson University, in Clemson, S.C.
This year marks the 76th championship for the men and 24th for the women, and this will be the sixth consecutive year that the championships will be held at the 1,800-seat facility.
The championships begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with the women's pentathlon, followed by four men's heptathlon events at 10:15 a.m. The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Sunday at 4:40 p.m.

Appalachian State claimed the men's title last season, while Western Carolina took home the women's championship. The Mountaineer men will look to win their eighth championship since 2000, while the Catamount women are seeking their third title in four years. Furman placed eighth in the men's competition last year, while the Paladins women's team claimed ninth place.
There are 13 defending champions competing in this year's championships, including Furman's Chloe Kowalski, who is seeking her second 5,000m title.
