JOHNSON CITY, TENN. -- Freshman William Ivey finished tenth with a time of 1:57.77 in the 800m invitational event to lead the Furman men's indoor track and field team Friday evening in the first day of the Niswonger Invitational at Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn. Rookie Danielle Ebzery paced the women's team, placing 11th with a mark of 10.56 (34-07.75) in the triple jump.
Junior Raul Rodriquez competed in three events for the Paladins, placing 51st in the 60m with a time of 7.44 and 58th in the 200m after recording a time of 23.62. Rodriquez posted a personal best time of 52.47 in the 400m for 38th place. Freshman Carson Priest finished 87th in the 200m (24.89), while senior Brian Toney took 92nd place in the event (25.83).
Sophomore Alexa Wilton placed 52nd in the 200m with a time of 28.02, then turned in a time of 1:04.33 for 35th place in the 400m. Senior Erin McChristian finished 29th in the 400m after posting a time of 1:06.17. In the shot put, freshman Gretchen Gabrielson took 31st place with a mark of 9.68 (31-09.25).
The meet will continue on Saturday, beginning with the 5,000m at 8 a.m. Field events begin at noon with the long jump.
