Barker Named SoCon Women's Indoor Track Athlete Of The Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman senior Erin Barker has been named the Southern Conference's Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held the weekend of February 10-12.  Athlete of the week selections are made by the league's track and field coaches.

Barker broke her own record with a winning time of 4:54.35 in the mile to lead the Furman indoor track and field teams Friday evening in the first day of the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.  She previously set the Paladin record of 4:57.62 in the mile last month.  The Easley, S.C. native currently ranks fourth in the conference in the event.  Barker also finished second in the 3,000m run with a time of 9:56.82 on Saturday.

Furman will compete at the Southern Conference Championships in Birmingham, Ala., February 23-24.
