GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's and women's cross country teams will compete at both the Blue Ridge open in Boone, N.C., and the Pre-Nationals Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., this weekend.
"Our entire program is looking forward to a great weekend," said Furman head coach Robert Gary. "We are excited to have one last checkpoint before heading into the championship season, which we hope culminates with an NCAA team berth."
The Blue Ridge Open will be held Friday at the Appalachian State Farm Fields in Boone, N.C. The meet will begin with a women's 5K at 4 p.m. followed by a men's 6,400m event at 4:40. Furman will face Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Lees-McRae, Lenoir Rhyne, N.C. State, Northern Kentucky, Radford, UNC Greensboro, Wake Forest, and Winston-Salem State.
Other members of the Paladin teams will compete at the Pre-Nationals Invitational on the Vern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center, the site of the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Championships, in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday. Regionally ranked teams will complete in the blue division of the meet. The women's 6K blue race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K blue race at 11:35 a.m.

Both Furman teams enter this weekend's meets with their highest collective ranking in school history, as the Paladin men are ranked 26th nationally and third in the Southeast Region, and the Furman women are ranked eighth in the latest Southeast Region poll.
