BOONE, N.C. -- The Furman men's cross country B squad finished third Friday at the Blue Ridge Open in Boone, N.C. The Paladins scored 75 points, while High Point won the meet with 29 points, and Wake Forest finished second with 51 points.
Senior William Ivey paced the Paladins, finishing fifth on the 6,400m course with a time of 20:19.88, while sophomore Brock Baker placed tenth after crossing the line in 20:45.34. Sophomore Lee Shearer posted a time of 20:50.48 for 15th, and fellow sophomore Matt Lange was 26th at 21:03.87. Sophomore Nate Riech placed 32nd with a time of 21:15.28, and senior James Perez rounded out the Paladin slate in 64th place with a time of 22:33.62.
Other members of the Furman men's team and the Paladin women's team will compete at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., tomorrow. Following an off weekend next weekend, the Paladins will compete at the Southern Conference Championships on Oct. 31 in Greensboro, N.C.
