GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman cross country teams will compete at the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn. The meet will feature the Merrill Fischbein Men's Gold Division I 8K at 12:20 p.m. and a Jack Johnson Women's Gold Division I 6K at 1:35 p.m.
The Paladin men, who are ranked 22nd nationally and fourth in the Southeast Region, will face a strong field that includes six of the nation's top 30 teams, No. 17 Michigan, Oklahoma State and Portland, who are tied for 19th, No. 25 Colorado State, 26th ranked Southern Utah, and No. 30 Michigan State. No. 6 Boise State leads a tough field in the women's meet, which features three teams ranked in the nation's top-10, including 9th-ranked Michigan and No. 10 Michigan State.
Other teams attending include Arizona, Central Michigan, Creighton, Duke, Eastern Washington, Georgia Tech, Idaho State, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Navy, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, Northeastern, Northern Arizona, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, San Francisco, South Dakota State, UCLA, UMKC, Wayne State, and Wyoming.
"Training has gone very well, and we are very excited to see how we match up on the national stage," said Furman head coach Robert Gary. "Despite redshirting some of our runners, our goals remain defending our conference titles and qualifying for the NCAA Championships."
