GREENVILLE, S.C.. -- Furman junior Frank Lara will compete at the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championships Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind. The men's 10K will begin at noon.
Lara, the 2016 Southern Conference Men's Runner of the Year, paced the Paladins on the Southeast Regional course on Friday, finishing sixth with a time of 29:08.2 on the 10K course, to advance to the NCAA Championships as an individual and earn all-region honors for the second-consecutive season.
"Frank has developed into a great frontrunner this season at various invitational, in winning the SoCon, and most impressively with his NCAA Regional performance," said Furman head coach Robert Gary. "Both programs were left disappointed with the men missing an automatic team qualifier by one point and women just five points. However, I have no doubt Frank will represent our program marvelously on Saturday before we return with both teams next year."
A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast on NCAA.com. Complete results will be posted following Saturday's meet at www.furmanpaladins.com.
