Furman Women Ranked Second In Southeast Region; Men Ranked Fifth

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's cross country team remained in second in the Southeast Region poll, while the Paladin men's team is ranked fifth, according to the Week 4 regional rankings released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The top two teams were unchanged in the women's poll for the third-consecutive week.  N.C. State leads the women's poll for the fifth-consecutive ranking period, after taking the Southeast Region title in 2017.  The Paladins, who scored a second-place finish at last year's region championships, are second for the fifth-straight poll, after placing second at Notre Dame on Friday.  Duke moved from fifth to third, while Wake Forest remained in fourth place.  Virginia Tech fell from third to fifth.

There was lots of movement in the men's poll as Virginia, who leads the poll for the second-straight week, was the only top-five team to hold their position for two consecutive weeks.  Eastern Kentucky moved from sixth to second, while Virginia Tech climbed from seventh to third.  N.C. State fell two spots from second to fourth, and the Paladins, the reigning Southeast Region Champions, came in at fifth in this week's poll.

USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with current-season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.
