Furman vs. ETSU Game Notes

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman will look to claim its nation-leading 13th victory of the season and remain undefeated in Southern Conference play when it visits Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tenn., to face the ETSU Bucs on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Saturday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be heard at FoxSports 1440AM, through Stretch Audio at FurmanPaladins.com and via the TuneIn Radio app. The Furman IMG Sports Network broadcast can also be heard through SiriusXM at Sirius channel 146, XM channel 202 and on channel 966 at SiriusXM.com.

Furman, 12-1 overall and 1-0 in the SoCon, will be facing ETSU (10-4, 0-1 SoCon) for the 58th time with the Bucs holding a 30-27 series lead. ETSU won two of the three meetings between the schools last season, including a 63-52 decision in the semifinal round of the SoCon Men's Basketball Championship in Asheville, N.C. The Paladins had claimed a 79-76 triumph at Freedom Hall in the regular season finale after ETSU edged Furman, 62-61, at Timmons Arena in the first of three encounters during the 2017-18 campaign.

The Paladins return from a short Christmas break ranked No. 3 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 and are currently receiving votes in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll. Furman dropped out of both top 25 polls following a 75-57 loss at LSU on December 21, which snapped the Paladins nation-leading 12-game unbeaten run and string of eight straight true road wins.

On Saturday, head coach Bob Richey's team will go for its eighth consecutive SoCon regular season victory and will try to improve to 2-0 in the league this season after claiming a 90-88 double overtime win versus Western Carolina at Timmons Arena in the SoCon opener on December 1. The Paladins, who were tabbed to finish fourth in preseason polling of the SoCon's coaches at media, head to Johnson City ranked a league-best No. 48 in the latest NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET).

ETSU improved to 10-4 overall with back-to-back victories over Wyoming and Norfolk State at the Sun Bowl Invitational in El Paso, Texas, last week. The Bucs fell 79-62 in their SoCon opener at Wofford on December 1.
