Furman vs. The Citadel Game Notes

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman will go in search of its 12th straight home win and ninth consecutive Southern Conference victory at Timmons Arena when it hosts The Citadel on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Saturday's game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and can be heard on the Furman IMG Sports Network with Dan Scott and Bryant Lambert calling the action. The Paladins improved to 13-2 overall and 2-1 in league play with a 71-58 victory over Mercer on Thursday night at Timmons Arena. Senior Matt Rafferty keyed the Paladins to their sixth straight win over the Bears with a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. With his second basket of the game, the Hinsdale, Ill., native became the 44th player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points.

Saturday's game marks the 210th meeting between Furman and The Citadel with the Paladins holding a 122-87 series lead. In the last meeting on February 3, 2018, in Charleston, S.C., The Citadel rallied from a 17-point deficit to down the Paladins in overtime, 100-92, and snap a four-game series winning streak for Furman. The Paladins, winners of eight of the last 11 versus The Citadel, captured a 107-67 win at Timmons Arena against the Bulldogs last January behind 26 points from Devin Sibley and 20 from Jordan Lyons.

The Citadel enters Saturday's game at 9-4 on the season and 1-1 in league play following a 112-81 loss at Wofford on Thursday night. Graduate transfer Lew Stallworth leads the Bulldogs averaging 17.6 points, 6.8 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Following Saturday's game, Furman begins a three-game road trip at VMI on January 10.
