GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Cameron Green has been named the SoCon Men's Tennis Player of the Month for April, as announced today by the league office.
Green finished the month with a 7-0 record at the No. 1 singles spot and a 5-1 record at flight one doubles with Jake Munns. The Sydney, Australia, native dropped just one set in singles play and started the month with a win over Clemson's 59th-ranked Alex Fayrot 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5) as the Paladins narrowly lost 4-3. The senior earned wins at the No. 1 spot over Samford's Jake Faundez, Wofford's Lucas Cerbelli, Mercer's Sam Philp and ETSU's Robert Herrera.
In doubles action, Furman's top pair suffered just one setback in the month, falling 6-7 to Mercer's Philp and Olivier Stuart before avenging that loss with a 6-3 win on April 21 in the semifinals of the SoCon Championship. Green and Munns also picked up wins over Samford, Wofford, and ETSU, downing the 2018 SoCon champions Bucs' top pair 6-0.
Others nominated: David Gonzalez (ETSU), Olivier Stuart (Mercer), Connor Thompson (UNCG), Luke Plaisted (Chattanooga) and Rossouw Norval (Samford).
